Cotahuasi Canyon
Cotahuasi, capital of La Union is located al 375 kms-233 mi , 12 h from Arequipa, the deepest canyon in the word, 3600 metres (11 800 ft)whit its impressive landscapes,is another ideal place to watch the condors, trek and participated in adventure sports .
It has narrow streets and old construction, also hastermalbaths, waterfalls and mysterious forests of stone, puyas and cactus. The main places in Cotahuasi are.
The Church Nuestra Señora de la Concepción
Which has colonial style and has the typical characteristics of provincial churches.
It has more than 170 years of antique and it has valious pictures of the arequipenian school.
The bells of Santa Ana is located at the exit of Cotahuasi. Its an ideal place for a good view and its near the lagoon Chaquicocha.
The Cotahuasi Canyon
The Cotahuasi canyon has 3535 m of deepness in the place called ninacocha, near Quechuallatown. It was declared as a Turistic Reserve Zone the 3th of march of 1988, near the canyon, you can find churches graves and big zones of andeneria.
Catarata of Sipia
Is an impacting waterfall of 150 metres of height. The waterfall islocated at 3 hours (walking) of Cotahuasi town. This walking is less if you travel by van to the bridge Cuyao, where the road finishes.
Valley Around
Saint Saint
Is a mysterious forest of stone made by the erosion of the rain and the wind. The strange figures are extended in an area of 5 kilometres square. It´s located in the huaynacotas district, at 17 kms of Cotahuasi at a height of 4200 below sea.
Termal Baths Luicho
It has curative qualitatives. Its water heat fluctuates between 33 to 38 celsius degrees. Its curative water are recommended to patients who suffer of rheumatism, arthritis and muscular atrophies.
Very near are located the ruines of Supaycanchis, Purahuasi and Huacchar. The baths are located at 2 kms of the district of ALCA (2750 m above s) and at 17 kms of Cotahuasi.
Puyas Forest
Near the town of Lauripampa in the Puyca district and more than four of voyage from the capital, it existsan important number of puyas (Puya Raimondi) that belongs to the family of bromeliaceas and considered as the inflorescences more biggest of the planet. They can measure 10 metres and flowered every 80 years.
The puyas which are in danger of extintion grow only on the andine zones.
Forest of Giant cactus of Judío Pampa
They are rare species of cataceas that grow until 13 metres height. The forest is on the district called Quechualla (1980 m above s.) known by its vineyards and fruit production.
Charcana
Its one of the traditional town of La Union. Alll their houses are made of straw roofs. You can have here an excellent view of the mountains Solimana and Firura. Its located at 3417 m above s. and it takes 8 hours to traslate by animal (mule) fronm Cotahuasi.
Pampamarca
Is a district located from 2 hours of traveling from Cotahuasi. It has agreat view of beautiful water falls,preincas ruines, chullpas and beautifull waterfalls.
